Attack on Polish patrol in Afghanistan
On 28th July 2011 in the afternoon, during carrying out activities within White Eagle Fury operation Polish patrol was attacked.

Senior Private Paweł Poświat was injured and as a result of wounds died in hospital.


The accident took place in southern part of Ghazni province. During patrol conducted by soldiers from combat group “Alfa” an IED exploded under AMV Rosomak.

Driver of the vehicle Senior Private Poświat was seriously injured. MEDEVAC helicopter was called immediately and the victim was transported to Polish hospital in base Ghazni. Unfortunately, in spite of immediate help the doctors did not manage to rescue his life.

The family of Senior Private Paweł Poświat has been informed about the accident. 

Senior Private Paweł Poświat began his military service in 2003. In Poland he served at a post of a driver in 17th Wielkopolska Mechanised Brigade. He was a very good military specialist with many additional professional powers. He was 29 years old. He was single.
